Just remember - You never know what you're getting until you either read a book about how to assess a used piano, or hire a technician, such as myself, to assess it for you. I charge $75 for that.

A standard tuning costs $115. A full pitch raise before that tuning is an additional $60. This is usually only necessary  when it's been many years since the last tuning. If the piano needs only a little extra tuning, I will either not charge anything, or charge $60/hour, which is also the repair rate for the first hour. After the first hour, the rate decreases.

RESHAPING HAMMERS

Reshaping hammers is performed when the hammers have been used so much that they become flat. In this picture you can see the hammers closest to you have been roughly reshaped, compared to the hammers behind which are flat still. The next step here is to remove the tuft of felt gathered at the top of the hammers and then to continue sanding them with increasingly finer grits of sandpaper until they are smooth and properly egg-shaped.

Aural or Electronic?

I like them both. They both offer different benefits. If you prefer one, you can request that.

Equal or Historical Temperament?

I like them both. They both offer different benefits. If you prefer one, you can request that. (Sound familiar?)
